Holidays in Plettenberg Bay
Plettenberg Bay is undoubtedly one of the best places in South Africa as a resting place. For miles you can see and walk the white sandy beaches and get lost in the feeling of total relaxation. The long streches of beaches of Plettenberg Bay makes you feel as if you are lost in time.
The weather makes the difference. In Plettenberg Bay you will find that the weather is better than the rest of the Garden Route in the Western Cape. The sunshine lasts for about 300 days of the year, making it a great holiday destination.
Whale Watching is one of the greatest tourist attractions around the Plett area. Even watching them from the beach, you can see these huge mammals enjoying the warm waters of the bay, feeding their calves. They are in Plett from about July until January, but you might see the most of them during October.
The Robberg Nature Reserve is also a great tourist attraction and maybe this is because you stand at the southern point of Africa experiencing this beautiful nature. The Island in the Robberg Nature Reserve is great for sitting and looking as the huge wave’s splashes against the rocks. It makes you feel close to nature.
Getting available accommodatio in Plettenberg Bay might be difficult especially over the high season in December and January. Lots of Gauteng visitors and also foreign visitors come to plett every year and if you want to find good Accommodation you need to book well in advance. Many people do rent their houses for the holiday seasons while they go and explore neighbouring destinations. Many of them will take the opportunity to go for an annual holiday while others will seek out the opportunity to just go camping in the Caravan Park down the road. No matter where you stay in Plettenberg Bay, nature will reward you.
Maybe the one thing about this area which still captivates me is the glorious sunsets. Experiencing a sunrise here is a scene which will stay with you for always. Make sure you dont sleep to late and have your camera ready. You are about to get some excellent pictures.
A short drive from Plett is the great neighbouring town of Knysna. Wander around at the Waterfront or visit the famous Knysna Elephant Park
